Siti Nurul Zhahara : A brief of a person with the name

"Gita!"
That is how people around me often call my self. It is not anywhere in the name Siti Nurul Zhahara, but it is me, my name.
I was born to a small, but warm and loving family with a compassionate mother (often she has it too much), a wise and unusually genius father, and a manipulative brother whose age was seven years old when I was brought to this mortal world. It was in Jakarta, on December the 12th in 1993. Months before that day, my father read a compilation book of Tagore's works called Gitanjali, which means The Song Offerings. And yes, Gita means song. My mother always wants to have a daughter who can sing, to inherit her unrealistic dream to be able to sing, she said. Besides, it is the custom in my family to call the children with a special name rather than picking up the first name to be the nickname. My brother for instance, he also has a special nickname. Therefore, my parent agreed on calling me Gita, regardless of what my full name is.

My childhood was a little bit unusual. I successfully learnt the ability to speak before I could even walk steadfastly on my little feet. My mother always tells me that it was because she consumed too much hot peppers when I was still in her tummy. It did not really matter, because what matters is when I was in Kindergarden. I asked my parent to enroll me to a Kindergarden when I was only 2 and a half years old. I did so because I saw my brother going to school, it looked cool for me back then. Thus, I thought I wanted to do it my self. Fortunately, my parent also thought that it is a good thing to enroll me to school in such early age. So in no time, I was enrolled to a Kindergarden which is not so far away from my home. The name of the Kindergarden is TK.Ar-Rifqi Bogor. But unfortunately, I did not do very well in Kindergarden. I was sort of behind from any other kids in cutting and gluing and coloring. I was always the last one who finished the activity of the day. I bet my mother was really concerned about me, but then the sun rises again after the heavy rain. I had been old enough to enter elementary school, so my mother tried to enroll me to the school where my brother used to go, SDN Panaragan 1 Bogor. And Thank God, I was accepted. I did extremely well in elementary school. I was always the best student in class, only once in the whole six years I got the second place. During my junior year in SMP Negeri 4 Bogor, I was placed second in Lomba Siswa Berprestasi in the City Region. My life has been getting so much better since then, even until now.

I went to SMA Negeri 1 Bogor for my High School. During this stage of my life, I got the honor to be one of the best Indonesian students to go abroad as an exchange student to Rushford, Minnesota, USA. I went to Rushford-Peterson High School as a senior. It was a life changing experience, a lifetime worthwhile memory that I can always learn from.

I am now pursuing my dream to be a worldwide well-known executive chef and a biomedicine scientist by studying Life Sciences as an undergraduate student in Institut Teknologi Bandung. I am still in my freshman year.

My goal in life is to make my parent experience the best of their lives and be happy about it, especially my mother. Also to be useful for the humankind, and to shed a smile on everyone's face.
What I am striving in life is Love, Peace of Mind, and the Harmony with my Surrounding.

I am kind of person who enjoy Jazz, Swing, Bossanova, and Folk music. A little bit unusual taste for people in my age. I also enjoy reading literatures and watching good movies. I pretty much grow up cooking and baking in our family kitchen, and value culinary arts. I occasionally write poems and take photographs to interpret my feelings.

I would love to talk about what I like and I dislike, my perspectives in life, and so many other things you might and might not be so interested. But If I do so, this will not be brief. Therefore it will not be relevant to the title.

Perhaps I will tell you more about those things some other time, in some other posts. But for now, you can check out my tumblr blog.

Have a Great Life!

I stand mesmerized,
wondering how you sing
your notes hold the world spellbound–
the light of your music
lights up my universe.

Gitanjali, song 3 in the English)
